On October 5-7, nonprofit leaders and capacity builders from across the U.S. will gather online for #ANM2020online: the ann ual conference of the Alliance for Nonprofit Management. Now in its 19th year, this year’s theme is Adapting to New Realities: Rebuilding for Social Change .

The Alliance is devoted to improving the capacity and impact of nonprofits across the U.S. to achieve positive social change. A unique national voice and catalyst for the field of capacity building in the nonprofit sector, our work supports a sector that represents the third largest source of jobs in the U.S.

The organizations our network supports – social service, health, education, justice, foundations, arts, advocacy, and policy organizations – strengthen local communities and grow local economies. Founded in 1997, our members work tirelessly to increase the effectiveness of the food banks, hospitals, religious institutions, domestic violence shelters, and schools that comprise the very fabric of our society. Working together, we are achieving enduring positive, syst
emic, social, and structural changes throughout communities and across the nation. Given our long history and national reach, we are uniquely positioned to create powerful spaces and opportunities for dialogue, learning, networking, and research like #ANM2020online.

The people, groups, and movements we support seek social change. As capacity builders, we must be partners in their efforts, not just consultants, coaches, and funders to them. But knowing how to expand our roles and amplify our efforts isn’t always easy, particularly as we continue to move through the uncertainty of the COVID-19 crisis. Now more than ever, #ANM2020online provides the place where new and seasoned capacity builders can learn and share different perspectives and explore diverse ways to tackle problems that build our collective capacity for social change.

The Alliance annual conference, the only conference of its kind for nonprofit capacity building practitioners in the U.S., creates powerful opportunities for professional dialogue, debate, and learning. We amplify research and convert best practices into actions that impact thousands of communities through tangible solutions that change lives and improve social conditions.

Our membership includes an inclusive and active chorus of consultants, coaches, funders, pracademics, community organizers, government leaders, and executives from across the country. Our vision for October is to convene online the most diverse perspectives that shape and advance our field, break down silos, and share and synthesize what leads to growing stronger, more high-impact nonprofits and communities.

This year’s event will attract 1,000 people representing dozens of areas of practice and hundreds of communities for three days of plenaries, workshop sessions, and online networking. Our carefully curated programming represents the best thinkers from across the country who bring fresh and cutting-edge ideas. Attendees will come away with new skills and tools, a renewed sense of purpose, new connections, and fresh energy to grow the organizations that make our comm unities strong and resilient.
